UPCOMING EVENTS: Stay tuned…

PAST EVENTS:

We were thrilled to have hosted the Exhibition "Metamorphosis” by the very talented Cypriot artist Sotiris Sevastides.

The work consisted of art pieces that have been carefully and creatively transformed from various scrap metal items.  The artist’s inspiration for the exhibition "Metamorphosis” comes from the shapes of each piece of metal, found mostly in scrap yards, resulting in UpCycled Artwork.

All pieces are unique and one of a kind, playing in synchronicity with nature and the surrounding environment that the artist explores continually through his creations.

Sotiris Sevastides and his workshop, Atelier 301, are located in Ermou Street, 301, in the Chrysaliniotissa area of the old town, Nicosia.

Opening was held on Friday 27th October at 6 pm by the Honorable Mayor of Nicosia Mr. Constantinos Yiorkatzis.

Duration: Friday 27th of October – Sunday 5th of November.

We were thrilled to have hosted the exhibition "Mastorisses"

Mastorisses' was a unique exhibition showcasing high fashion and bridal pieces by Andrea Rotsaki and Souzana Petri.

In response to a collection of memoirs from local craftswomen, the artists develop a poetic conversation with the reminiscent journeys, traditions and the values which have been passed on from generation to generation, shaping local culture as is known today.

Spanning the period from the 1920’s until the 1990’s, the artists pay homage to these powerful women, their cultural contexts, and intricate traditional crafting techniques by creating a series of showpieces aiming to highlight, preserve and progress a beautiful lineage with the past.

The exhibit presented wedding dresses, formal wear, headpieces and jewellery in a collaborative process between the two artists that aims to celebrate the hidden or lost remnants of local art and the craft of fashion production.

The Exhibition opening took place on the 17th of November at A+ Multipurpose Event Space in the heart of Nicosia and will remain open until the 24th November. The exhibit was curated by Madhaus design studio in collaboration with architectural lighting design studio Archtube.

ANASTASIA PAPADAKIS ANASTASIA PAPADAKIS

It was such a lovely experience to have hosted the exhibition 1:266 Leafart by mrk (artist: Mark Hellicar). The exhibition took place in October 2021.

With our sister company being an architectural lighting design firm, it was not coincidental that we chose Mark’s exhibition as our first hosting event at A+.

Mark is an architect and also a very talented artist. His concept for this exhibition really appealed to us not only because he has such beautiful pieces of work but also due to the concept of the exhibition being related to scale and architecture. His attention to detail makes his artwork quite unique and we loved that we could use our knowledge of lighting to showcase his fragile and delicate artwork.

Below you will find a beautiful description of the exhibition, in the words of the artist Mark Hellicar.

For more information on the exhibition or any of Mark’s artwork, please click on the arrow above or feel free to contact Mark Helicar at https://www.facebook.com/pg/MrkHellicar/posts/

Mrk is an architect by day.

And so,

The evenings are, with the light fading,

every now and then,

about the carving of leaves.

These will focus on the unavoidable subject of scale.

Scale by virtue of size.

The scale of time.

Scale also by virtue of the depiction of

large ideas in a more manageable microcosm.

Many a subject is directly taken from

the annals of civilisation, religion, culture

and their expression within architecture.

Utilising the opportunity for specific light conditions

there is also a play with shadows

and their own exaggeration and distortion of scale.

The explosion of detail.

We invite you to come along

For a chance to

engage with these small creations and conversations,

the art interpretations.

A series of scenes on which life is played out,

utilising nothing but leaves,

a blade, light and

the rich resources of the visitor’s imagination.

Mrk

Riana Raouna Gallery Group Exhibition

When we were introduced to Riana Raouna, founder of the RIANA RAOUNA GALLERY, we knew this was an organization we would love to collaborate with.

Riana is a Contemporary Art Specialist, Curator and Art Writer. She has a background in marketing management but now runs the Riana Raouna Gallery.

In March of 2022 we hosted the Group Exhibition "Under the Same Sky”.

The exhibition presented works by 12 contemporary artists from all over the world and explored the feeling of nostalgia, either as a pure psychological condition or as remembrance of past landscapes and experienced events.

While each of the exhibited works was built around existing pillars of painting and sculpture, each of the artists adopts their unique artistic language which represents a fresh perspective in the world of Contemporary Art.

It truly was a lovely experience to host such beautiful and expertly curated artwork in our space for a few weeks.

The exhibition ran from 31st March – 20th April.

The Opening was on Wednesday 30 March

The footage was shot in Cyprus, Bulgaria, and Iceland over 10 years, with a contribution from musician Galina Dimova – Georgieva and sound artist Patricia Jäggi, on two of the five acts. This is the first part of a diptych, with the second part taking place at the Knapp Gallery of the Regents University in London in November.

The exhibition ran from 27 April – 18th May.
